Lewis Students Volunteer

Previous     Pause     Next

Six awesome students from Lewis University stayed and volunteered at the Eco-J the week of May 12. Animal chores, brick laying, planting, cleaning, taking out brush, weeding, pulling garlic mustard, prepping and laying sod on our chicken house roof, and helping to lead tours and school programs are just some of the activities the Lewis students were busy with this week.

Volunteering

Whether your interests or skills lie in gardening, yard work, carpentry, minor repairs, cleaning, painting, wood splitting, or plant identification, there are many opportunities to help. Currently we are especially in need of people to assist with the following:

  • weeding gardens (starting in May)
  • assisting with group tours (as needed)
  • preparing the hermitage for guests

We continue to be amazed and filled with gratitude at how much work can be accomplished in a few hours by motivated and skilled volunteers.

Persons wishing to volunteer can arrange to share their time and talent by contacting S. Janet Weyker at 262-681-8527 or eco-justice@racinedominicans.org.

 “Adopting” Eco-Justice Center Animals

One of the ways you can feel part of the mission of the Eco-Justice Center is through our "Adopt an Animal" program. We share these 15 acres with alpacas, goats, chickens, geese, ducks, guinea hens, rabbits, a dog, barn cats and lots of wild birds.

Part of our budget goes toward paying for feed, bedding, and vet costs. "Adopting" or sponsoring an animal entails making a donation to the Eco-Justice Center in the amount for what it costs to maintain and care for each of those animals for a year. Below is a listing of the estimated cost.

With a year sponsorship, you receive a certificate and photo of your farm animal.

If you would like to sponsor one or several of our animals, complete the adoption form below; return it with your donation to Eco-Justice Center, 7133 Michna Rd., Racine, WI 53402.
If you prefer, you may use pay pal for your animal adoption by clicking here.
