Bethany Apartments

Bethany Apartments

Sanctuary and strength for victims of domestic abuse since 1990.

Bethany was founded in 1990 after the Racine Dominicans identified a need for women and children who were at emergency shelter for domestic abuse and had nowhere to go once their stay was over. (Click here for more about the history of Bethany Apartments.)

The mission of Bethany Apartments is to provide transitional housing for women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse.

Bethany carries out this mission in a twelve unit apartment building in downtown Racine, Wisconsin. Three goals support the mission:

• Bethany will provide decent, safe, affordable housing for women and children.
• Bethany will provide supportive services that enable the participants to regain their self- esteem and develop the skills needed to live independent lives.
• Bethany will strive to enable the women and children to create an environment of non-violence in their relationships and in their families.
