| Racine Dominicans Welcome New Associates |
On Saturday, June 21, 2008, three associates made a commitment renewal in the Siena Center Chapel. They expressed their commitment to share in the mission, direction, faith-sharing and ministries of the Racine Dominican Community.
Ken Ludwig: I commit myself in associate relationship to be a voice in truth and justice for the poor and indigent, to improve my knowledge of the Dominican tradition and lifestyle, and, to follow where God would lead me, preaching from the pulpit of my life.
Susan Lied: I commit myself in associate relationship to practice a contemplative outlook in prayer, study, preaching, and action so as to more fully participate in bringing about the Kin-dom and to celebrate our connection in God’s beloved creation by participating in social justice, peacemaking, and ecological stewardship activities.
Cathey Rennick: I commit myself in associate relationship by offering myself and my gifts to this community of believers. I receive this community as a gift, as well, as a source of learning, growth, and accountability. Together, I believe God strengthens us as witnesses of the Gospel, preachers of the Word and prophetic voices in this time and place.
Their commitments were accepted by Sister Maryann McMahon, vice president of the Racine Dominican Community.
Associate Josephine Ludwig gave a reflection during the commitment ceremony.
Associate Miles Vilski thanked the sponsors who have shared in the preparation and study required for commitment renewal.
Sister Ruthanne Reed, co-director of associate relationship expressed gratitude to Sister Pat Thompson and Sister Lucy Edelbeck for their six years of service on the advisory committee.
A reception followed in the St. Dominic Garden.
