Racine Dominicans At Work
S. Dorothy Ann Greiber

S. Dorothy Ann Greiber started working at the Siena Center in 1991, and she has made an impact on many people during her time here. Having lived here for many years, she has a great deal of first hand knowledge about the sisters. “She knows a lot about their needs and is able to help them,” said S. Pat Mapes.

What are some of the things S. Dorothy Ann likes about being at the Siena Center? “It’s my home,” she said.
S. Dorothy Ann likes living with all the other sisters and the feeling she gets belonging to a religious community. “We’re one big family,” she said. “Everyone has to work together.” She also enjoys being close to the lake, where it feels like an “ongoing vacation.

One of her favorite experiences here was playing the violin in an orchestra of about 20 sisters. Entertaining sisters, people in nursing homes or anywhere else they were invited was “such a delight.” The group had to work together and listen to each other in order to perform well, and they uplifted their audience with their performances.

Another favorite memory she has is that of dressing up like the Queen of England (see photo at right) for a party during the queen’s historic visit to the United States in 2007. For the occasion, she wore a regal outfit complete with a hat, long dress, pearls and gloves. Acting the part of Queen Elizabeth gave everyone a laugh, and the party was “a whole hour of fun.” It is good times like these that S. Dorothy Ann enjoys the most.
