 Foundation with a Future
2008 witnessed the "green built" construction of the Education Station. It is situated over the 1858 foundation of the original farm house. Pragmatic Construction of Milwaukee did the design and construction. This new 20'x34' structure includes a handicapped accessible restroom, classroom, library, gift shop, and fiber arts studio. The basement is used as a root cellar. Some of the "green" features of the building include a steel roof, reclaimed bowling alley, church pews for shelves, red oak flooring, low flow faucets, dual flush toilet, and composit decking material. It serves as a great meeting space for small groups and for use with student groups as we share educational videos and resources, We are most grateful to the many benefactors who contributed financial and material resources to make this building a reality.
