S. Suzanne Noffke

Embrace the Swelling Wave

S. Suzanne Noffke was honored by the Wisconsin Historical Society for her book published in 2004, Embrace the Swelling Wave. This is volume one of a three-volume series telling the history of the Racine Dominicans.

Historical Society president, Mark Gajewski, presented S. Suzanne with the Book Award of Merit for "excellent scholarship in documenting and interpreting Wisconsin history" at a special reception held On May 6, 2005, at the Society's Madison headquarters.

Embrace the Swelling Wave is the product of 25 years of research in which S. Suzanne examined the roots of the Racine Dominicans, beginning with the life and times of the community's founder Maria Benedicta Bauer, her early years in a Dominican monastery in Bavaria, and her eventual emigration to the United States.
