Peter Mayer and Sara Thomsen in Concert
April 2, 2017, 2pm
Those of you who are familiar with Peter Mayer's music know what a wonderful treat it is to hear him in concert. Those of you who were fortunate enough to attend the special anniversary event with Joyce Rupp and Sara Thomsen were inspired and delighted by Sara's music. This spring, we are in for a doubly special event with singer-songwriters Peter Mayer and Sara Thomsen together in concert.
Peter and Sara share many commonalities—a Midwest heritage which you can hear in their music, an easygoing manner infused with joy, and the ability to reach into your heart and soul with their music and lyrics.
Both artists tap into everyday experiences and find in them humor and insight, the profound in the mundane.
Sara Thomsen grew up in a Minnesota family that loved to sing. She is a staunch supporter of struggles for human dignity and ecological sustainability. Her songs range from welcoming a newborn to protesting a policy and from depicting night falling to describing a loved one. Her music is always alive and pulsing.
Peter Mayer, another Minnesotan, writes songs for a small planet—songs about interconnectedness and the human journey; about the beauty and the mystery of the world. Peter spent time in seminary and as a church musician until he found his calling to spread joy and touch hearts and minds through his music.
We invite you to our annual spring concert to enjoy the live music of these two artists. You are sure to be uplifted, inspired, even transformed, during this memorable experience.
In conjunction with the concert, Siena Retreat Center will again hold a silent auction with unique, fun, beautiful, practical, and delicious items. Bidding will be open before the concert and during intermission.
Sunday, April 2, 2017
Doors open at 12:30pm, and the concert begins at 2:00pm. Concert tickets, which include admission to the silent auction, cost $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the concert.
