Sisters help to rehab Habitat for Humanity Homes in celebration of their Sesquicentennial.

Transforming Houses into Homes

In conjunction with their community's 150th anniversary celebration, Racine Domincan Sisters and Associates worked with Habitat for Humanity in the rehabilitation of two houses during the week of October 15.

"We wanted to reach out to the city of Racine in a specific way during our sesquicentennial," Sister Maryann McMahon, one of the project's organizers said. "It is just one way in which we continue to live our mission, committed to Truth, compelled to Justice."

A group of about 25 sisters and associates pitched in to paint, caulk, clean and do whatever was needed to ready the Habitat houses on Boyd St. and Deane Blvd. in Racine for the families who will eventually call them home.
