Volunteering is exciting, interesting, and fulfilling. HOPES Center's work is able to continue thanks to our team of dedicated volunteers. Would you like to join us? Just a couple of hours a week can make a big difference. HOPES has the following volunteer positions:
Receptionist: Volunteer Receptionists are the face of HOPES to visitors and program participants as they enter the lobby area. Receptionists answer questions about HOPES, direct visitors and phone calls to the appropriate people and provide some basic services. There are two shifts each day: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Outreach Volunteers: Volunteers are paired with a HOPES staff member and conduct street outreach at night in teams of two or three. Teams go out to meet people where they are in the middle of the night and assist them with basic needs. Teams also work on building a relationship and linking them to services that will eventually help them exit homelessness. Outreach Volunteer shifts are three hours per week, with the actual hours varying according to season. It can be very rewarding and interesting work. Teams are small to that they do not overwhelm the people we meet at night, but there are still some volunteer openings available for the Winter of 2018-2019.
Fundraising Volunteers: A team of volunteers helps organize the annual Raising HOPES (with talent) event, secures sponsorships, and raising publicity. Others help write grant applications to foundations and local community groups.
