VOLUNTEERS

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteering is exciting, interesting, and fulfilling. HOPES Center's work is able to continue thanks to our team of dedicated volunteers. Would you like to join us? Just a couple of hours a week can make a big difference. HOPES has the following volunteer positions:

Reception Volunteers:  Reception Volunteers are the face of HOPES to visitors and program participants as they enter the lobby area.  They answer questions about HOPES, direct visitors and phone calls to the appropriate people and provide some basic services.  There are two shifts each day: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Street Outreach Volunteers: Volunteers are paired with a HOPES staff member and conduct street outreach at night in teams of two or three. Teams go out to meet people where they are during the night and assist them with basic needs. Teams also work on building a relationship, conducting housing assessments and referrals, and linking them to services that will eventually help them exit homelessness.  Street Outreach Volunteer shifts are three hours per week, typically 9:00 p.m. to midnight, although some shifts are later in the night.  It can be very rewarding and interesting work.  Teams are small (minimum 2- maximum 3 people) so that they do not overwhelm the people we meet at night. Positions for Winter 2019 - 2020 are all full, but we may have openings for Summer 2020 (which starts May 1st). If you are interested in learning more about Street Outreach Volunteers, contact Scott at the HOPES Center office.

Fundraising Volunteers: This dynamic team helps organize the annual Raising HOPES with Talent event, secures sponsorships, and raising publicity. Others help write grant applications to foundations and local community groups.
