Creative Mindfulness: Meditation and Chinese Brush Painting

Slow down, rest, breathe, be present to this moment.  This day will include time for meditation practices, and Steve will teach the steps to make Chinese ink paintings.  Come enjoy a relaxing day—learn how creativity can be centering, can be a prayer.

Steve Rys is a graduate of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, where he studied Eastern and Western painting methods.  He has been developing and teaching art programs for 20 years, including at the Racine Art Museum and the Peninsula School of Art in Door County.  Steve is currently developing an extensive art as meditation program combining the benefits of East-West contemplative practices. 

Pat Shutts holds a BA in Theology and an MA in Pastoral Studies and a certificate in spiritual guidance from Creighton University.Pat brings her gift of compassionate listening    and openness to the Spirit.  She is a lay covenant member of the Wheaton Franciscans and is part  of the Sophia Zen Sangha.
