Sister Mary Ann (Bernard Ann) Pohl
What first drew you to the Racine Dominican community?
I had Dominican sisters in school and they impressed me with their loyalty to us as students. Also, they knew how to relate to each other.
What has kept you in the community all these years?
Our lives are dedicated to God. I have had many opportunities to work with sisters and others. The years have been fruitful and have helped me to grow in the love of God.
What was one particularly cherished memory of your years in ministry?
I will remember my years in Centerline, MI, because the older sisters were so dedicated and easy to communicate with. They set many good examples for the 30 of us living religious life.
What is one thing people today should know about the Racine Dominicans?
Racine Dominicans are dedicated and interested in the future of the world. We are involved in the lives of people who are in need of things, such as housing, food and care. We become involved in their lives.
What do you enjoy doing at this time of your life?
I enjoy visiting in the Senior Companion Program, visiting people’s homes and talking to them on the phone. They invigorate me, and I find their visits keep me involved with world issues.
